| I recently purchased a lancer mag to try out. I'm having an issue with the last round and locking back. After firing the second to last round in a magazine, the bolt locks back, and the last round is sitting in the upper receiver. It appears that the round is popping out at some point during the cycling and usually ends up sitting on top of the mag with the bolt locked back. Is this a common issue? Not a huge deal to me as I use mostly Pmags, but I found this interesting. This happened on both a Colt and Aero lower. |

L5-AWM is the latest version - L5 sans '-AWM' is the old version.
Only time I've encountered the exact malfunction you describe was in a 1911; never had it happen with an AR. Had almost the same thing with an M1 carbine, but the bolt didn't lock back; it just got jammed up with the last round coming loose from the mag and going wonky when the bolt tried to go into battery. Korean KCI magazines with weak springs was the culprit, the last round just wasn't held snug enough during recoil & cycling. |

So I did not have this issue with a SI defense billet lower. I had bought two mags when I ordered them and gave one to a friend. He hasn't had issues with his on a PSA lower. I was able to replicate the problem yesterday using snap caps. I'm thinking the spring might just be a little too strong and is popping them out as it sends the round upwards.
I should note that snap caps are a bit lighter than live rounds so maybe it's more likely to happen with them. I'll shoot lancer an email, but I'm not going to worry to much about it, not worth the shipping for one mag. It's probably a tolerance stack up, and/or the spring needs to wear in a bit. |

Not having the same issue as you but currently I have 20-25 30rd lancers and a large majority of mine don't lock the bolt back completely on the last round. In fact they don't even lock back on an empty mag when charged, I usually have to pull the bolt back and manually push in my bolt hold open then release the bolt. My following rifles it happens in KAC SR15 E3 Colt 6920 soccom Yankee Hill YHM 880 I know other guys that tell me they have the same issue. |

Never had an issue with the L5AWMs. Are you using L5AWMs of the older L5 non-AWM version? I had the same described issue with 2013 production Pmag M3s in an LMT. The mag feed lips where too long and the carrier would drag on the top of the mag preventing last round bolt hold open. Magpul replaced them with 2014 production M3s, which had no issues. Just like I did with Magpul, call Lancer and have them replace the mags exhibiting problems. I'm sure it shouldn't be an issue to swap them out. |

Bumping a old topic, but I also have this issue, however ONLY when manually racking the bolt SLOWLY. When I rack the bolt quickly, or when the bolt is cycled during firing, no issues. PMAGs do not have this issue with my gun. My upper is a BCM upper, lower is Aero Precision. I swapped mags with a friend, he was also able to reproduce the issue on his gun (PSA upper/lower).
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJN68K9nIq0 With snap caps, I was able to reproduce the last round popping out issue, but not with real bullets. Presumably because snap caps are lighter. I have what I presume are the latest generation magazines: http://store.lancer-systems.com/product/l5-awm-10rd-opaque-black/magazines (Also have the issue with their 30rd mags) |

OP, I have nothing constructive to add as to why this is happening. I would like to remind everyone that THIS is why we should test every magazine, regardless of manufacture, before trusting it for serious use. Good luck to you, OP. i agree with this 100% i just had 3 out of 8 ETS mags fails, they seem to be running great now, but we will see as far as Lancer goes i have never seen one fail old or newer versioner OP contact Lancer, they will get you squared away |
