Just picked up my POF P-415 receiver today courtesy of Rainier Arms!  I can't wait to get started with the build!  The pictures do not do this receiver justice, it is simply the nicest looking receiver I have ever seen.  The finish is superb!  Just thought I'd share.

Nice start.  What config are you going to build?

I'm going to use a CMT LPK with a WOA enhanced RRA 2 stage trigger, MIAD grips, and I'll probably go with the new Magpul UBR stock although I haven't seen it yet.  I'm going to use a VLTOR upper with a Denny's Super Duty BCG, gasbuster charging handle, LaRue gas block, and I'm still undecided on a barrel,  looking for a good 16" mid-length with 1/7 twist, chrome-lined.  Not sure of what contuor I'm going to go with.  Troy BUIS, LaRue handguards, and an Aimpoint ML3 as my optic.  Not totally sure of the accessories yet.  My goal is to build an extremely reliable all-purpose rifle capable of sub-MOA.

sounds like a winner...but if EXTREME reliability is a goal I would consider a barrel with a pinned gas block/sight.

16", mid-gas, 1:7, chrome-lined, sub-moa and considering the above...Denny's Operator barrel would be my choice. These come with a pinned fsb, though.

But if you can do without the chrome lining, Noveske has a one set-screw/one-pin gas block(made by Vltor) available for their barrels. I believe Denny's is selling a Noveske 16" with this set-up.

I'd get a stronger optic, too...take greater advantage of the rifle's sub-moa capability.

My $.02...good luck

Thanks for your help, split!  I forgot that the LaRue isn't pinned.  I'm still not quite up to speed on gas blocks yet.  I'd really like to go with an ACOG as an optic, although I'm not quite sure I could justify the extra cost even with it's magnification capabilities.  But I'm with you on having a stronger optic.

I hear you. I'm sitting on a recce build similar to yours...saving for a Nightforce 2.5-10x. At least I can get it broke in with irons.

It's not just the magnification capabilities, but the reticle. I believe Aimpoint's have a 2moa dot...vs a scope with crosshair. I mention this in consideration to your desire to shoot sub-moa.

I tend to save/buy higher-end optics...but am confident a good scope can be had at a price comparable to the Aimpoint. Trijicons seem overpriced to me...I still want one, though.

Update: Received my CMT parts kit, KNS anti-roll pins, Magpul grips and trigger guard.  I installed the magazine catch, bolt release, grips, pivot pin and trigger guard.  Waiting for my RRA 2 stage to arrive before doing anything else.  I'm hoping for the release of the UBR soon so I can finish the lower!

Everything was pretty easy with the exception of the trigger guard which was much harder to install than I thought it would be.  The head of the front screw stripped and then the rear roll pin was REALLY tight.  I managed to install the pivot pin without launching the detent, this part isn't as hard to install as people make it out to be.  The MIAD grips feel really nice, I definately recommend these.

Lookin' good so far!

I re-read your original post and forgot to mention, if you use the vltor upper with a larue handguard, you will need to do modify the handguard keeper. That's what I ended up doing to mine. You might want to consider a larue upper.

I bought my vltor before knowing this and before larue released theirs.

Thanks for the info.  That sucks because I really like the look of the Vltor!

Yeah, I like the looks of the vltor, too. Mine looks fine and wasn't too difficult...just wanted to let you know what you were getting into. Maybe a differenet handguard is an option...I'm not sure which one's, though.
