Im putting together a high dollar 3-gun/bench rest dual purpose rifle. I've made a couple posts about the barrel with I finally got CLE Kreiger 18" SPR barrel for. I was making an order for a Geissele hi-speed DMR trigger and a VLTOR A1 rifle modstock, I was asking the guy about the buffer and tube etc. and he talked me into buying a JP silent capture buffer/spring for a lot more than a standard rifle tube/buffer/spring. Is this going to make a huge difference in my 3-gun rifle?
I mean is it all about the spring sound? or does it actually help performance? Only reason I bought it is because the curiosity of seeing it everywhere when shopping for quality parts was getting to me. So did I make a good buy? Money isnt really a factor for me with this build, I just want the best AR out of the best parts available. And if this spring will help performance then I dont mind shelling out an extra 100 bucks. |

I put one in my 300 BLK and it does remove the spring sproing and makes the cycle a bit smoother. However, I don't think it makes enough difference to justify the $135 +/- cost. Other than the noise, I don't think I could tell you which buffer system was in the gun. I don't shoot at high rates, so I can't say whether or not it's faster, slower, or the same. I understand that it's adjustable by replacing the spring, but I didn't need to do that.
If I had it to do over I'd put the money into a better trigger or optic. |

Some reviews
The consensus is just like the poster above said. They are great for removing noise for suppressed guns, otherwise go with the standard setup and save your money. |
