I been doing searches and reading and have learned a lot from this great site. I must thank everyone here for all the great information!! I am on the verge of building a AR-15. Well, doing a kit to be more specific - not a total build. From what I gather JT seems to be regarded as the better kit supplier. Most people's opinion is that these kits are of higher quality than the Model 1's. The only thing I can seperate from the 2 is that JT uses "Colt Fire Control" parts. While on the otherhand, there is negative response about Model 1's lower parts kit. Is the JT worth getting for the superior lower parts included? Are they in reality much better than other kit makers ie real colt parts? Beyond that I havn't read much of a difference in any other department like Upper, barrel, etc... Also, I read that all of Model 1's barrels are HBARs. Is this true of JT? I am not talking about any featherweight or pencil barrels, just wondering if their "normal" profile barrels that JT offers are a smaller diameter than Model 1's. Thanks in advance.. |
| I bought from JT before and was not to impressed. It seams to me that they gather the cheapest parts they can find to put in their kits. One of the barrels I got from them started rusting through the parkerizeing between the FSB and the muzzle a few days after I got it. I wipe it down with rem-oil all the time. Everytime I take it out of the safe there is the same spot again but bigger. I called them and they would'nt do shit. I also got a bolt carrier from them and it was on older style or something, it had no maker marks on it anywhere and it was made different than a RRA and Colt one that I have and is lighter. The bolt on that will not properly headspace on any AR I've tried. My advice is be careful of what and who you buy from. AS far as Model 1 I can't say either way because I have never dealt with them. |

there all the same, mil spec parts, are mil spec, no diffrence, i have a JT parts kit that works better that my friends colt 6400c bought the same week as i got this kit, i got the 11.5, he got the 16, i got a total cost of 575, he got a cost of 1100, 1000 price tag, 70 sales tax and 30 for shipping and transfer. i got a perfectly running weapon, he got a headach with extraction problems. just remeber the parts were built by the lowest bidder, and somtimes these parts fail. dosnt mater if its a colt, bushy or some no name upper you find a a gun show there all the same. MILSPEC is MILSPEC if sombody tells you eles they are either justifing spending twice what you did or are trying to sell you somthing SF |
There truly is'nt any MILSPEC AR-15 parts....the military does'nt use AR-15's |

very true, but a gas tube in an ar is the same as a gas tube in a m16/m4, same with extractor and spring, sights, stock, hanguards, mag catch, pivot pins, ect... its 95 % the same the difrence lies in the FA fcg, and the bolt carrier, and the milling of the lower reciever somtimes you get a luck out and somtimes you dont SF |
