I just built my first ar15. Its a spikes upper and lower, dd barrel and bolt head and an adams gas piston system. I fired one round through it and now it won't chamber a round. I have tried several different types of ammo, all .223, and nothing fits. The bullets only fit halfway into the chamber, if I use any force the bolt gets stuck and I have to pry it open. It's a brand new build and there isn't anything in the barrel. I don't know what happened or what the issue is. I'm fairly new at this but I'm not sure if this is a common issue or something easy to fix.

your positive there is no obstruction?

do you have a no go/go gauge set?

Pull the upper off, remove BCG.  Drop a loaded round in.  Does it fall in to the chamber all the way freely?

what does the spent case of the round you fired look like ?

If the bolt closes without a round it sounds like the first round left something in there, case broke or maybe a squib.

Take the upper off and take a good look in the chamber; cartridge only goes half way in, the obstruction should be pretty obvious.

If the bolt won't close without a round then it's something wrong with the gun.  Maybe the gas key is hitting the tube.

There is no blockage, a Bullet does not freely fall into the chamber, and I'm not sure what the case looks like. We shot a lot of other guns including other ars and it was lost in the confusion.

Actually there is a blockage whether you see it or not. Push a .22 bronze bristle bore brush into the chamber until it just starts into the rifling. Then reverse direction and pull it back out. I'm betting the case neck broke off the first round you fired and it's stuck in the chamber's neck. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SHOOT THE RIFLE UNTIL YOU GET THIS FIGURED OUT.

If a bullet does not fall freely into the chamber,  then there is an obstruction  of some fashion.

If you value your face, do not fire until corrected.

Ok I figured it out, kind of. I never saw any obstruction but there had to have been. I brushed the chamber really well, and that made the Bullet slide into the chamber most of the way but it was still getting stuck. I cleaned off the bolt really well and ran a few rounds through the system and after about the fourth round it started cycling just fine. I'm not sure what it was but it had to have been some type of obstruction. Thanks for your help.
