Has anyone used a upper from these guys? How is the quality? What are the advantages of having a chrome lined barrel and M4 feed ramps? Thanks for any help.

first off welcome aboard and to the sickness J&T is a first rate company to deal with, very high quality parts and parts kits, most guys go with chrome lines barrels because ease of cleaning, last a little longer than non-chromed barrels, some guys say that CL isn't as accurate, i can't tell. but i'm not a competition shooter. if shooting beer cans and having a battle with paper targets, home defense and pissing off democrates is what your after then go chrome lined, the M4 feedramps is the rage because it makes use feel better about the rifle and because navy seals and marine force recon demand it due to worns mags and full auto fire. you can go either may and you will never notice the difference being a sport shooter hope this helps

good stuff, good company; check the tacked threads regarding CL and M4 ramps--basically:

m4 ramps can help facilitate feeding, but its mostly more advantageus for FAs; CL, imo is a cheap initial investment for longevity, cleaning, and corrostion resistance--not accurized for precision work though

For 99% of shooters, accuracy of chrome lined vs non chrome lined chrome moly barrels is just not noticable.  I have both.  Stainless barrels are more accurate IF they are targe bull contour.  I have some normal contours in SS (Oly makes them) and I can't tell the difference between these and the chrome lined cm barrels.

I can't tell difference cleaning.  My rifles get 6 strokes of the brush and 3 wipes with a patch whether they need it or not.  I line them up on the bench and clean them all the same.  I don't discriminate.

As for J&T specifically... I have two rifle kits from J&T and a barrel, and have bought other parts.  All top notch.

I think J&T is not only a great value, but it would be difficult to buy better unless you were spending big bucks on some exotic stuff.

My J&T's have gone BANG every time the trigger is pulled, since new.

How does carrier staking look out of curiosity? That's kind of a biggy for me, given that I've had to re-stake my Del-Ton kits.

I've bought two J&T kits, and don't have a single complaint.

What kind of Lowers are you guys throwing onto the J&T upper?
and does it fit and match colors well?

I wish I knew how good the quality was, mine has been backordered for almost 3 weeks now due to "waiting to get nuts back in from powder coaters."

I'm starting to get annoyed.

DPMS lower on one, perfect match.

The other, Eagle Arms (Armalite), but I Molyresined both upper and lower with OD for a perfect match.  Would have matched well enough anyway.

Got my J&T Bull kit today.  Matches the Saber Defense lowers I got perfectly.  Nice deep black finish. The Badger handgaurd is nice also.  The bolt was stacked very well.  Better than the two colts I own.  Big +1 to JandT
