| I put a Jewell 2-stage trigger in my "service rifle" competition gun. First, the gun refused to function, with the bolt locking up when it got to about the middle of the ejection port each time. I worked with it a little and discovered that the hammer of the Jewell set-up was following the bolt forawrd and the bolt carrier was then jamming into the hammer as they met. I adjusted the first-stage sear engagement screw way out and it seemed to be working, but I had 4 jams caused by the bolt carrier hitting the hammer as it follows the bolt forward and one double shot from a single trigger pull (same thing happened when I was trying to figure out the problem). Has anybody else had similar issues? Do you just have to back the 1st stage sear engagement screw all the way out or what? |

Bren, The Jewell triggers can be very finely tuned... in fact to be too light. I have adjusted a few Jewell AR triggers and it sound like your second stage adjustment is too light. Try tightening screw 11 a little bit and see if that helps. I had one that was set way too light and the shock from the bolt slamming into the barrel extention would cause the second stage sear to release the hammer... that baby went full auto and I had some explaining to do for the range master. |

First_LSK, His first post said that he had it set up for Service comp. First stage would be around 1.2 lbs (on the third/forth clip), then the second stage stacked to get him to 4.5 lbs needed break limit. Chances are it's not tuned/set correctly, and the idea was to find him someone local with a trigger gauge to set it up right. |
That's quite different than the way I have mine set. I have 3 lbs. on the front and 1.5 lbs on the second stage. It's 4.5 legal and I've never had an issue with it. I've installed two of them the same way with same results. It really sounds like it's just not adjusted correctly. |
