Ok, My new gun has not been runing quite right lately ( only with wolf).
So I am sitting here and brushed the chamber a little, used a little oil, and than I took the mag, slapped it in  jacked in a round, ejected it and pulled teh handel a few more times, i cycled about 5 rounds through.

I picked up the rounds and noticed that the fireing pin had left a small dimple in the primer,, not deep, but just a little tiny dimple.

I have never actulay cycled any rounds through any of my other guns before so I never noticed this before, I am not home right now or I would try it with my bushy or RRA.

Is this normal?

Tomorow I will see if my other guns do it too, but It kind of worried me

Yes it's normal. I've noticed the same thing out of my rifles.

OK good, had me a little nervous...... I called my father and had him try it with his gun and it did the same thing.

I guess it was a dumb question that I could have waited till tomnorow to answer my self, but atleast i bumbed my post count X 2...lol

yeah, normel

it happens because the AR uses a floating firing pin, so the inertia it has while moving closed keeps the pin moving with enough force to mark the primers when the bolft locks

won't hurt anything, but it is recommended not to keep cycling the same rounds

I was figuring that was why it happens,

Like I siad, I have never cycled live rounds before (enless I am shooting them) probably wont do it anymore either.

Anyone ever hear of one going off due to cycling ?

ETA: just found This (armalite warning about slamfire)

It's possible. Always keep it pointed in a safe direction, especially when chambering a round!

Not out of the norm on some civilian barrels until the chambers break in through live fire/cleanings along the way (sometimes may take up to 1K of rounds using brass case ammo).
