How would you modify a KAC RAS M4 to fit a heavy barreled AR carbine?

Get a different barrel
or
Dremel the RAS to fit

Trade it for a KAC RIS. They show up on the EE.

Remove the rear silver clamp that fits under the barrel nut, that would be my guess.  Then it will just be held in by the delta ring, like the RIS....You might have to dremel some material off the front of the rail also.

Know that RAS's will fit some heavy barrel profiles, so there may be no need for modifications.

I've mounted a RAS on Colt and Bushmaster heavy barrels with no mods.

I have the RRA heavy barrel, not sure how the diameters differ between the brands.

You will need to remove a little bit of material to fit the  rra Hbar.
When I am not on my phone I will post more info.

Before you get too industrious with the dremmel, realize a RAS alone, weighing in at 11.3 oz., on an Hbar
is going to be hefty. Add a light, VFG or whatever warrants putting on a rail, a red dot on top and you have a handfull.

I sent my RRA Hbar to ADCO and had them turn it down to med. weight under the HG and with a RAS
it now balances beautifully.

+1
Get it reprofiled.

A little off topic, I have the M5 RAS, it fits on my HBAR, however, the locking screw seems to be too long.  Its brass colored and measures 1.5 cm.
With the rails off, the screw, when screwed all the way in, protrudes into the channel on the locking clamp.
I don't want to jack up my gas tube with a long screw.  The rails are very tight without the screw, however..........................................
Thanks

+2

I would send to addco get M4 style / etc!

BTW
I have a RAS on my LMT D2000 14.5 + phantom
ROCK SOLID!!  I like them

SIDE NOTE
TOO  HEAVY??     RAS + HBAR

On thing GOOD about a HBAR ?    it HELPS with RAPID FIRE getting on target with second shot.

good luck

Another +1 for ADCO. Right after the expiration of the ban, I had them Gov't profile (and add a bayonet-lugged FSB) to a 20" Colt HBAR upper. Couldn't be happier.
