Does the Knight's trigger guard close the gap like the Magpul trigger guard?  Ive handled a KAC lower in the past and I didn't think it did... Just checking.

Thanks..

Did a quick Google Image search and saw a few installed on rifles, no they don't cover that gap. My Spikes trigger guard (looks similiar to the KAC, which is why I bring it up) does cover that gap, fyi.

Is the gap problematic? Does it cause loss of functionality with the weapon?

Leaves the gap.
Functions as originally intended.
The gap will hurt some fingers.
Gapper will correct if it's an issue.

Some people enjoy not having their finger rubbed raw by the gap between the guard and the grip.

I like the one that came with my SR15E3, but I run an Ergo Grip with a gapper.  That being said I don't like it enough that I would have bought one myself.  It looks cool and does what its designed to do, but I too didn't like the fact that it didn't fill the gap.  Save the cash and buy the $20 Magpul unit.

I wear gloves

Mechanix origionals, bout $10 at target, cheaper than the KAC part

This!

The front "pin" is actually a spring loaded detent, the rear one is a full on pin.

If you drive it out make sure to use the correct size punch and support the ear or it'll snap off.

The number of people who don't know that the trigger guard swings down on an AR-15 for gloves/mittens amazes me. All you do is take a bullet and press the front spring loaded pin

And that's also why having a finger nub on the A2 grip is stupid.  The guard sits flush with an A1 or similar style grip, which makes it a lot more comfortable and nearly unnoticeable when you are wearing mitts.

I evaluated the KAC Combat Trigger Guard last year. I found it to be lacking compared to the Magpul trigger guard. While it retains the "winter trigger" feature of the standard trigger guard, the KAC guard does not fill the gap and it pretty uncomfortable when using a standard A2 grip or MIAD. Unless you want the looks of the KAC product, stick with the Magpul.
