I have a E2D LED I bought and then later they came out with a 200L E2D LED

I was thinking of buying the KX2C head wich is 200L

Question

This will make my light only 200L?

I wont be able to have a second  low setting right?

Yes, you will only have one setting with the KX2C head.

I am not so sure that the currently advertised 200 lumen is actually different than the "old" advertised 120 lumen.  I think Surefire had been downgrading their lumen rating and just recently advertise the actual lumen.  The reason I say this is because I have the Scout light with the KX2C head and an E2D LED and I don't see any difference in brightness between the two lights.  I think Surefire's old 120 lumen was / is actually 200 lumen.  I dunno.

What are you using the light for?

If it's GP pocket carry and such, stick with the stock head. For a weaponlight I'd prefer a single stage head.

Thinking of replace my G2 with E2D

G2 is on RAS

I still use E1e update to LED for carry

Gotcha.

I'm not keen on mulit stage LEDs in general. Less so for weaponlights. I wouldn't be averse to using one for carry, but I'm not going out of my way to own one.

Good luck with your decision.

The KX2C is perfect for a gun or defense carry.

But for everyday work I prefer a KX2A (45 lumens and no longer in production).

All my coworkers use the KX2B (60/3 lumens and current production)

The KX2C is a 200lumen single-stage, so you will loose the low level if you choose this path.  Compare the price of a replacement head with the cost of a new 200 lumen E2D LED Defender and you'll discover there isn't much of a difference.  You could sell your existing light, keep it as a second light, or sell the light or parts at a place like Candle Power Forums to recoup some of your expense.

the weaponlight you're looking for is the VTAC L4
E2D body, clicky cap, KX2C head. 200 lumens single output LED

The current KX2C head with its TIR Lense is brighter and has better throw than the KL4 head that used to come on the L4 and Scout lights.

Though i dont know if its worth spending $135 each to upgrade my old L4 and Scout lights.

But won't the new (I personally think this is mostly just a ratings change and not a 'new' LED but I admit I have not seen a new model yet) light still use the 2 stage head? If so, you could not give one to me for a weaponlight...but that's just me. Now selling the old light and picking up an L4 VTAC makes a lot more sense IMO, but damned light technology is progressing faster than I can afford to keep up!

I am talking about the VTAC L4 not the L4 lumamax

Both of my VTAC L4s have the KX2C head and I bought them last summer at the intro price

Slowly upgrading my 600A Scouts to this head. Unfortunately, I think it's worth the scratch to do so. $108 for MIL/LE.

"Better" throw meaning farther? I've read a fair number of posts on various boards that bemoaned the loss of flood with the KX2C vs the L4 head. The KX2C is definitely a more focused beam. I'm pretty satisfied with my E2L w/L4 head for the time being. However, the KX2C/VTAC L4 is very high on my list.

The name of the L4's bezel is KL4, more recently an updated version known as the KL4A.

The KL4A has a newer LED with 120 lumen compared to 100 lumen along with better runtime
