I ordered some UTG quad rail handguards from Botach tactical and they are on backorder. They offered fill my order with KZ handguards.
http://www.botachtactical.com/kz4ha.html Do any of you have any comments or opinions about either of these styles or whether you would wait for the UTG or take the KZ. I know they are cheap, but are they at least some quality? Thanks, RJ |
I had the KZ 2-piece quad rail on my Bushmaster. Had little bit of play with it. Didn't really bother me though. I know some are less tolerant of play on their rifles. I replaced it with a Magpul MOE handguard since I wanted to cut down on weight. Plus I like the foliage green on my rifle.

I dunno. I've got the UTG carbine length rail (non free float) on my M4gery. I mean, for the most part, it's a range toy...but don't tell the 7 hogs that I got last month that they where killed with a toy. The rail is ROCK SOLID on my rifle and the flashlight mount and now a VFG are solid also. If you where going to be Taliban hunting in AFG or kicking in doors in south Dallas with the SWAT team I probably would not recommend it but for range and training applications it's just fine.

Taken from the back of the UTG #416 box:
Precision machined with maximum strength Four mil-spec Picatinny rails for versatile accessory applications. Simple and friendly installation, no gunsmith or tool required. Solid locking features for most secure fit. Ultimate tactical solution to enhance accuracy under toughest conditions. Fits CAR length model 4, 15, 16, and varients. Hard anodized finish for wear resistance. UTG rubber rail guard included for great comfort and protection. Nothing said about AirSoft. I like mine and will use it until it fails to serve my purpose. |

I have a Pentagon X3 light, laser and a foldable vertical grip it it has yet to loosen up or show signs taht it will. Hell I can't even get it to move. Wait for the UTG, you won't regret it. |

UTG makes airsoft guns... UTG airsoft guns I don't see KAC or Troy making airsoft...People love to justify their cheap buy. I personally wouldn't take one for free. |

Smith & Wesson owns Walther. OK Walther makes the Colt AR22. OK The Colt AR22 is a Umarex product. OK Other Umarex products are Airsoft guns. OK Smith & Wesson makes Airsoft guns. Great. |

UTG started off as a airsoft company, Smith and Wesson didn't A company that first started off at a firearms manufacture then venturing into airsoft world is more reputable then a airsoft company venturing into firearms arms world. Nonetheless, if you're fine with a sub-par product, then no harm done. |
| Wow...Some people are really touchy about these things....If it works for you, then great. Different strokes for different folks...If someone wants to drop $300 on a rail, then great...That's not me. If UTG started out manufacturing airsoft stuff then good for them...It is nice to see them move in to other markets. Diversification is good for business... |

UTG is the same as Leapers and is generally Chinese made stuff.
KZ is Botachs line of weapon accesories. It is made in the USA, or so they say. Most of their designs look to be copies of YHM stuff. Maybe it is just rebranded, I don't know. KZ does not equal UTG. I don't know where that came from, but of course people keep repeating it in the ARFCOM tradition. I have no personal experience with either brand as far as AR accesories. |
