I recently saw an AR upper with what looked like a key hole outline on the side of the receiver, I believe it was just behind the case deflector. Can someone tell me the brand if that can identify it?

OK, I did some more digging and it seems it's made by Cerro Forge. It is on an RRA Varmint and it seems that RRA uses (or used) the Cerro Forge uppers.

You're correct. It's just a forge mark, however, Cerro Forge only produced the raw forging. They do not complete the final machine & finish work.
