Olympic has been doing both cast and forged since forever. In the very early days, they machined lowers from forged billet, as well. Olympic buys their forged blanks from the big forging houses like everyone else. NO manufacturer forges their own blanks in-house that I'm aware of, although some (Armalite) have their own dies at the forge which get used only to forge blanks destined for their exclusive use. We could probably use a forge-mark sticky FAQ. |
