Anbody havin gtrouble with  Barnhaul 62gr 223's tumbling out of the barrell?  I got a new lot and a good 50% or more tumbled sideways throught the target 100yds away.  Colt 6551 with no muzzle device.  Stumped me, I think the ammo is defective.

obviously a stabilization issue.  Is your weapon really old?  I take it you don't have this prob with other ammo.

Nope XM193 works fine.  I wonder if I got a freak 1/12 since the rifle is only 4yrs old and has maybe 1K rounds through it.

The twist rate will be on the end of the barrel.  What's it say?

I have a friend in Europe that said he gets keyholes with that ammo as well. He was using a 1x7 M4 barrel. The ammo is cheap in Europe.

Either the bullets are undersize or the steel jacket is too hard for the rifling to grip.

I had the same thing happen last weekend with 62gr Barnaul.  This isn't a new lot.  I bought it several years ago and stopped using it because it jammed up my rifles.  Last weekend I thought I would try to use it up, but it was performing so badly I gave up on it.

Had this keyholing issue yesterday. I shot 60 rounds out of a 20'' 1/9 twist barrel. About 2/3 s of the holes showed profiles from slightly oval to completely sideways. This was at 100 yards. I recovered two bullets from the backstop. They showed no rifling engraving in the normal sense. One of them showed some mushed in indentations around the circumference. Looked to me like the jacket material was just too tough. Wierdest thing I've seen in a while. It all fuctioned fine. Two months ago  I was shooting this same lot thru a 16'' 1/7 twist barrel and it was giving me 3 to 4 inch groups so it obviously was engraving and not tumbling out of that.

Shot some 62gr Barnaul out of a 14.5" 1/9 twist barrel last week. Out of all the ammo I've used, this is the only stuff that has key-holed.
