So i have been using keymod rails for a little while now and i really like the light weight of them,
i really like the Noveske free float keymod rail and barrel nut

only problem i have with them is they are getting harder for me to find the short 7" one and they are $250 when you can find them

so while i was looking for one that looks similar for a little less i seen a noveske airsoft keymod rail

so my question is, what is the difference in them aside from the rivet blocking the gas block
and if they are both aluminum keymod rails could one just find a way to remove the rivet, and install it on an ar15,
any info on this anyone?

thanks for the help in advanced.

I wouldn't trust an airsoft barrel nut. No way, never.

Mid west has 7.25" keymod hand guards for 169.

Some of those airsoft clones are nothing more than pot metal. Be careful on how you interpret the word aluminum.
These replicas were never designed nor intended to be used on a firearm. Buyer beware !

While some clones may be acceptable, Murphy's law states, "you ain't gonna get one".

Safety is paramount when you have such a violent explosion just inches from your face.

While I don't think much of airsoft quality, just how is there going to be a 'violent explosion' inches from your face?

Worst case, when the bolt carrier returns to battery, the barrel and hand guard fall off.

The pressure is contained by the barrel, barrel extension and the bolt, not the barrel nut....

The reason 'real' keymods are rather expensive is the narrow part of the key-hole is undercut, with a special cutter, and the tolerance of the spacing is held fairly tight.  Airsoft copies may not have consistent spacing which makes fitting accessories difficult or missing the undercut to save time in manufacture, and the general finish may not be as good.  The are usually made from the same extruded 6065 aluminum and the real ones.  6065 is good stuff and very inexpensive.

The other reason the Chinese market "Airsoft Only" rails and the like is to get around import regulations.

Please don't. You're just going to end up wasting your money and getting the one you want anyways.  Be patient.

so as far as what im doing with it, i know i could never use an airsoft barrelnut on an ar15 i was just refering to the hand rail, and if its not recomended because the aluminum alloys are made of different mixtures for heat disapation thats understandable since airsoft rifles dont get anywhere near as hot as an ar even if you toss them in the oven lol

so second question, because i have never seen one of these installed before and know nothing about them other than its a tube, can anyone tell me the advantages of having this

over a kemod rail?

im only really considering it because this is for my pistol build.
