This weekend I took a rifle course.  In the last 100 rounds of the course I had a round where the primer had deformed and caused the bolt to get locked up.  I attempted to use my palm to knock the charging handle loose, but it was not working.  The ground was soft sand so I decided to for-go mortaring the rifle.  Instead I used my boot on the charging handle and just slightly put my weight down on the charging handle.  It broke loose and ejected the round.  Rifle worked great for the remaining 100 rounds.

My question is, could I have damaged the charging handle in any way or done any other damage by ejecting the round this way?  I did inspect the charging handle and it looks straight to the naked eye.  The charging handle is a BCM Mod 3 if that makes a difference.

You did not hurt the BCM handle or the rifle.

it should be fine
I would pull it and check it for straightness on a kitchen counter

Does it still work? It's fine.

Of course, you COULD have bent the handle, or latch, or roll pin, etc. by using that method, but it sounds like you didn't. You'd probably know as soon as you charged the next round. You got it up and running, that's what counts. The parts did their job.

The weapon is probably fine, but I would imagine the muzzle was not pointed in a safe direction using the boot method.

It actually was.  The instructor made sure of it.

How soft could the sand be?? For the most part, the momentum of the entire rifle should be more than enough to mortar the rifle. Always remember to fully collapse the stock and don't hit it on the toe of the stock.
