This weekend I took a rifle course. In the last 100 rounds of the course I had a round where the primer had deformed and caused the bolt to get locked up. I attempted to use my palm to knock the charging handle loose, but it was not working. The ground was soft sand so I decided to for-go mortaring the rifle. Instead I used my boot on the charging handle and just slightly put my weight down on the charging handle. It broke loose and ejected the round. Rifle worked great for the remaining 100 rounds.
My question is, could I have damaged the charging handle in any way or done any other damage by ejecting the round this way? I did inspect the charging handle and it looks straight to the naked eye. The charging handle is a BCM Mod 3 if that makes a difference. |

Does it still work? It's fine.
Of course, you COULD have bent the handle, or latch, or roll pin, etc. by using that method, but it sounds like you didn't. You'd probably know as soon as you charged the next round. You got it up and running, that's what counts. The parts did their job. |
