I have an extra lower around and want to  build a cheap yet reliable 16" CAR for my dad.  Who has the best deal on a no frills chrome chamber/barrel 16" complete kit?

thanks

The only kits I've used are J&T, so I can't speak to the quality of others.  The J&T kits are pretty good though.  One of my buddies got a shitty selector once so he replaced it...but he still had a complete Gov't profile are for under 700 bucks and it was plenty accurate and had no problems.  I've built probably 15 lowers using J&T kits, and selectors seemed to be not great on a consistant basis.  I don't know if that was just from one production run, b/c all those kits were built in a short time.  Still, if all you have to replace is the selector, I still think they're a good deal.  I don't know if any of the other kit companies make better stuff or not.

M & A Parts has exactly what you want, and you can upgrade from car stock to midliength at no charge or go from collapsible to a2 stock for no charge as well on their 16" complete kit.  It was less than 500 dollars last time I checked.  And regaurdless of what people say, M & A stuff is fine, you won't be disappointed, and they will jump through hoops to make you happy.
