Greetings to all.
sort of question/statement for you Ammo Guys...
I just got 200 rounds of Mil Surplus 30.06 ammo to feed an 03A3 (waiting on another 200 - stupid UPS)
The box is marked for CMP etc etc. Head stamped LC 69
Anyway, there is purple staining around the primer seat, is this normal?

Outside of that I inspected a few boxes and the brass is intact no dings or dents, bullets are all seated well and crimped, brass is tarnished (no biggie for 40 year old ammo) there are some surface scratches from delinking.

What say ye?

That purple stuff is a primer sealant and perfectly normal.  What you have is Good Stuff™®.  Enjoy it.

Just like GHPorter said, it's fine.  Just the way my 69 LC looks.  It will shoot fine also.  Enjoy.

The 1969 I've had in the past had red sealer..  look at the cases closely, see if you can see marks/staining at the shoulder area where the ammo might have been on a belt.
