A friend who bought a LE6920 has serial 168xx and was born on Mar 3 Mine is 180xx and born on Sept 4 ok, roughly 1200 rifles in 6 months or 200 per month There's 20 working days in each month roughly Monday-Friday x 4, so Colt Defense appears to be cranking out 6920's at the rate of 10 per day! I'm thinking a skilled person could slap one together in jusst under an hour, so in theory one person on a 8 hour shift could make 10 rifles. Maybe there's only one 6920 assembler at Colt |
|
Now that would be discouraging if that were true, wouldn't it? I think something is amiss here. They probably assemble them in lots, and the average happens to be as you state- (which is the same as 10 a day) bottom line- they do not do enough production-wise to suit most folks. In a sinister and selfish sort of way- it doesn't bother me-- as I have my 2. but for my fellow AR enthusiasts- I think the situation sux |
| What are the chances of someone getting on a waiting list now still getting a Colt LE6920 for around $1000? A couple months wait is not a problem, actually it would be perfered so I could have more cash on hand. Is it known if they will be producing these for much longer? |
|
I will provide one- but realize that I heard that there are up to 150 rifles in front of yours, which could put you into early 2nd qtr. '05- maybe sooner Open here price isn't great, but isn't bad either (disregard the big price tag, and read the background info) No deposit required to 'order' one |
Much thanks for the link. I'm now in line BTW, the LE6920 has nearly 250 names on the waiting list! |
I'll sell mine for a cool $BILLON |
mbakercad, Yes there are 250 on it, but he did say 90 of those already have gotten theirs shipped to them, which puts a mere 150 or so in front of you. He didn't seem that concerned about the length of the list, and their ability to satisfy everyone. The only drawback- if there even is one- is that they do not lock in the price, and estimate it to be "between $1200 and $1300 (or was it $13-$1,400 ? ) either way, that is not near the low end of what I have seen. then again, quoting it, and having it are two different things. good luck, and hope it goes quickly for all those in line. Now if you want to pay just a bit more.....I heard of some being offered from a fellow board member who didnt say not to post his info/ or that it was OK, so I will refrain |

redfisher, I think the number delivered for the 6920 was in the mid 30's, but I could be wrong. As for the wait, it actually works out better for me. I originally was planning on an AR purchase around the end of Feb-early Mar. This puts the Policeguns.com timetable is about perfect. I would still like to find one closer to $1000, but the 1200-1300 is still perferred to the $1500+ gunbroker price. I'm still trying to research this locally for better pricing. |

REDFISHER, Josh at that store says thanks for putting their info up on the sitehe you ROCK dude thanks for the site info!! |
Will you take a check? |
what's a white t marking? I got one with a white dot White Dot |
I believe you'll find it when you remove your (removable) carry handle |
| Rifles at Colt are manufacured in "lots" and the assembly line has to "switchover" from Military to civilian contract parts...civilian sales take a second, or even third, priority to military, law, and or export military sales because of contractual agreements, and are also dependant on parts on hand from subcontracors. |
|
I picked up 2 Colt MT 6700s last year from the same gun shop. One rifle had a C AF upper that was not marked and the other had a C and the little key hole symbol, I think is Cerro? That one had the white RAS markings under the carry handle. Both lowers where marked Cold defense. |
Maybe demand during the ban was only 200 per month. Why would you expect any manufacturer to produce more product than the market is bearing at the time? |
They claim to have some in stock too, at $855 hmmmm.... Clyde Armory 6920 |
That's the letterhead price. They don't have any in stock, even for guys with letterhead. |
