| Who makes a LED with the best through. This is for a ranch rifle where shots at 100+ yards will be made at night. |

Not sure how it compares to the other lights mentioned, but I've been thinking about getting one of these for a long range spotter. Throw is a claimed 400+ meters:

I'm not sure...my buddy has one of the older model OMG Lumens DEFT. He turned it on at Knob Creek at the night shoot and shined ii in the air and most of the crowd actually stopped watching the shooting for a few seconds to figure out where the beam was coming from. Its badass.... This is the newest upgraded version and they make a pocket size "Enthusiast" OMG DEFT-X This is the one my buddy has...

Your looking for something in the 12k lux which will reach that distance easily and pretty much oout to 350 yards.
Cree r2 drop-ins using a cool XPE/XRE are between 10k and 12k lux. Olight M20 has a slightly bigger headsize and reaches 250 yards pretty well but make sure you get pre=XML led as the XML won't have the higher lux. Not sure about the XPG/XPG2. Candllepowerforums Fivemega has had someadapters that would give even longer range. I had a 3 Cree LED 500+ lumen head flashlight from Cabella's that would easily reach 250 yards. The three LED head seemed to reach further with more light. Not sure what the lux readings would have been but it seemed to reach just as far as my Maglite/Malkoff mod with more lumens. Still have it but it went dead on me in a couple months. A Maglite head using the correct voltage Malkoff drop-in on a Surefire size body adapter would work great but I haven't seen that exact combo.. I have C-cell mags with a Malkoff drop-in and they really reach out there with good spill as well. I'm not sure but there may be some larger scope rings which will fit C Cell Maglite. Red or green LEDs won't scare the game away as fast and may be a good option used with a aspheric lens but you'll need a scope to use at longer ranges because the lux will be way down. Stay away from red filters on white LED as it will really wipe out the throw. |
| Those mad scientist builders have some killer products. However I think op would be best served by the tlr1 hp. $100, small and light for what it does, and already setup to rail mount. The game spotter is fine if your concerned about frightening game. It throws very very well and is durable as hell. |

I bought one too, your thread got me thinking it would be nice to have at least one light for longer range spotting. It's sitting at my local dealer right now, I'll grab it on Monday hopefully.
