| Yes I know that they are legal, but it seems like I saw a letter or FAQ page from the ATF confirming this, has anyone seen what I am refering to? Just trying to prove a LE friend wrong. Thanks. |

Here is it spelled out in an ATF document for dealers. You can download it from BATFE website here http://i28.tinypic.com/xgh7bb.jpg SAW = Semi-Automatic weapon LCAFD = Large capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. You friend is seriously uninformed. This knowledge is so 2004. |

A lot of manufacturers are still making LE-marked lowers because some people will pay extra thinking they are collector's items or some other silliness... One of my LMT lowers is LE marked. I'd actually prefer that it wasn't since there are a lot of cops out there that do not know the laws in which they are supposed to enforce and I'd just assume avoid the hassle. |
The LE not knowing that these things has nothing to do with enforcing the law, it's just plain ingnorance on their part. I'm not sure what law they think they are enforcing when questioning the legality of a LE/Mil only marked lower. Lord help us if they are arresting folks for possessing one. I know in my state I have never read such a law on the books when investigating a the rare weapons violation I've run into. |
