| My question is, do you expect to see a lot of these coming in the future from different manufacturers, and also to people who already have them? Are the rails heavy, or do you prefer them over an upper and a separate rail? |

Yes I expect to see more of them. Monolithic is lighter than a separate forend. The downside is proprietary parts, and if part of it is damaged then the whole upper is damaged. Ideally we’ll get new monolithic uppers that allow adaptation of standard AR barrels to be compatible. |

| To follow up, I love/hate the Spear LT design here. Extended rail on the upper is really nice, no worries about space on the upper, still allows for changing the fore end, but then the current design of the rail lockup to the receiver is the worst part of the entire design. If they could keep the extended upper while implementing a handguard lockup on par with an average AR free float rail, it would really be the best of all worlds. |

Its an extended upper, and then the MLOK rail is a just a straight tube that slides right on and is secured with 10x screws, basically 'semi monolithic'. IMO this is how the AR should be made if we have a time machine to go back and change the design; when the patent expires hopefully it becomes popular. Then there is manufacturing difficultly. |
