I know it has those double extractor springs...but other than that, does it use the same parts as a regular bcg (firing pin, retention pin, etc?)

Yes, the only diff. is the double springs and the lobster tail on the extractor.

The carrier itself is different, the cam slot is shaped to give a longer dwell time.
