Does the mws take both sr25/dpms pattern mags and ar10 pattern mags? I have a special weapons mags here from this month and the lmt ad says takes ar10 mags. So does it take both now?

They only take LaRue/Knights/DPMS/Magpul Mags. Unless something has changed since the last time i saw one, they won't take AR10 Mags

From the 308 FAQ:

There are primarily two magazines styles for the .308 rifles, the original Armalite-Fairchild magazines used in the original AR-10s, then picked up by the KAC SR-25 (henceforth called the SR-25 Type) and the Modern Armalite AR-10 type which is a modified M-14 magazine.

I'm sure this is where Special Weapons mistake came from.
