I have been considering getting a piston upper and the LMT is on a list of possibles.   Does anyone have one?  How do you like it?

The LMT is a very good piston system.  I have one in the 12.5in variety and like it alot.  Have not used any other ones to date except for this one.  I do not think you could go wrong.  If it is not what you want/like, you can sell the piston part and swap in a di barrel and carrier for a pretty low price. Plenty of barrels pop up on the ee. This is the easiest upper to work with. Want a longer or shorter barrel, loosen 2 nuts and put in another barrel.  Very easy to do.

x2!
I have a 12" piston LMT MRP as well.  The quick change barrel idea is genius. Ive only put about 100 rounds through mine so far which were all suppressed but it ran perfect.

Is there anything specific you're looking for in a piston?

Here's a short article that compares some of the competing brands.  Might help you make a more informed decision:

X3

My 16 inch has been awesome.  Its the most reliable and accurate weapon in my AR15 collection.  Approaching 15k rounds.

Had some early issues with carrier tilt.  Solved with an anti tilt buffer.

I have a few of the LMT Piston rifles and I love them.  They have the most simplistic piston on the market and you can easily remove the piston in seconds with no screws or parts to take apart.  That cannot be said for LWRCS which I have as well.

The monolithic upper is great on the LMT, and it comes with all the sights, rail covers, and a great stock.

I don't swap barrels, but it is nice to know you can switch between piston and DI very quickly with just a barrel swap and a bolt carrier swap.

Thanks for the link.  I got to handle piston AR15s from Ruger, CMMG, Stag, S&W, POF, LWRC and SIG but never got to fire them.  Never saw a LMT CQB piston but I like their Monolithic rail, and barrel changing system.  I want reliability and easy of maintainance over uber-accuracy so ease of disassembly without tools is important

Don't hesitate ordering one. They are falling farther and farther behind like every other high end AR maker. I have two and love them . I run one 12" full auto suppressed and it is never out of reach. The 16" will chug thru any brass or steel cased ammo. The 12" will be a little picky with crap ammo unless the can is on and then she doesn't care! I've also fired 10 rounds into an inch @ 100yds with their CL barrel with an Eotech. The LMT Piston is no slouch when it comes to accuracy.

The newest LMTs come with a new gas block that says "Fire" on one side, and "Suppressed" on the other.  One of mine has this.  My two others are a little older and have the original gas plug with just Fire on one side.  If you turn it over, it cuts off all gas and makes the gun a single shot.

Then you'll love it.  I had one and ran it pretty hard in nasty conditions.  Ran 100% without a hic-up.  Really the only reason why I didn't like it was... well, I don't exactly know.  It was reliable, accurate, seemed to handle well.  Honestly, there was nothing I could ever put my finger on, it just sorta gave me a bad vibe.  I'd take it out, shoot the snot out of it and think, "I really should like it more than my other AR's, but I just don't"

But other than that, it's really a superior rifle.  I'd recommend it to anyone.

I've had great performance out of my LMT 12" MRP piston.  Just got through running it all weekend with the can on in a NVG class and didn't have a hiccup.  Seems to reduce the build up of crap in the bcg while running the can in particular.

My 12" setup needed a 500 round or so break in and now she runs smooth as silk. I run it suppressed 50% and it runs great. I also run a 10'5" DI set up with a wmd nib-x bolt carrier group and it runs great too. The CQB MRP is a hell of and upper. You can not go wrong with this upper! Also I did add the POF cam pin and the bolt spring from Adams arms.. These parts just made a sweet system sweeter..

I haven't shot all the piston guns on the market but I've had the chance to play with a few.  Ruger, SIG, LMT, Barrett, HK and PWS all make some nice guns and, in my experience, it's pretty hard to get a "bad" design from the current market.  The tough choice is deciding on which system fits your needs and your wallet.  With that said, I think you'll be happy with the LMT if you decide to go that route.

Been lurking here a little while and just today shot my MRP piston for the first time.  Had a DI MRP CQB and found a 16" unfired piston kit here for $400, a small trip to ADCO and I have a 14.5" piston gun.  Took her to the range today and was very pleasantly surprised as it proved to be even more accurate than the DI 14.5, and ran flawlessly on On Target M855.  I also added the POF roller cam pin and AA bolt spring for good measure. I am very happy with it and the obligatory post range cleaning was a snap.

I have the 12" LMT piston as well along with two LWRC's..Needless to say, I favor the LMT a tad bit more cause of the simplicity of removing the piston assembly..I have just under 5K through mine and 50% of the shooting has been suppressed..Haven't experienced a malfunction to date..
