| How is the build tolerance (tight) on LMT uppers and lowers? Are they as tight or close too as RRA? |
|
LMT is generally considered a tier 1 manufacturer because they are a government contractor. Their products are top notch and battle proven. RRA, while nice, is generally considered a tier 2 manufacturer because they are not a government contractor. You will be happy with both, but LMT has some milspec features that RRA lacks. LMT has 1:7 twist barrels and M4 feed ramps. |
| I ordered an LMT upper and Lower separately from Legal Transfers a while back. There is a minute amount of play between the upper and lower, but I have put a few thousand rounds of assorted ammo (LC, Huntingshack, and Wolf) through it without even one problem. It is a fantastic setup and I would highly recommend their stuff. |
I have neither LMT or RRA but to say that RRA is tier 2 w/o really researching the manufacturer is somewhat, well, absurd. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they advertise as being the weapon of choice for DEA? In addition, you are able to "upgrade" to a 1:7 twist on RRA as well. But then again, LMT might offer the 1:7 only, not as an option for extra $$$. Since I'm on the soapbox, who determines Tier 1, 2 or 3. I've seen that a lot around this board. Now if a manufacturer has a historical trending of poor quality, sure, the consensus will say it's bottom of the barrel. My question is this, is JD Powers or Consumer Reports going around doing customer satisfaction surveys, etc.? Keep in mind, there are many factors that goes into awarding a company with gov't contracts. |
Actually, I do. Tier 1 contains the weapons I have. Tier 2 contains all the weapons owned by my friends that I have shot. Tier 3 contains all the weapons owned by my friends that I have not shot and all the weapons owned by my enemies. |
The industry determines who is tier 1,2,3. Yes, RRA has the DEA contract, but Colt and LMT have the big green (or tannish gray) contract. I'm not going to talk down to you since you already, obviously, know your stuff. But, I might suggest some research as to why RRA got the DEA contract and who they were competing against. Since, I hurt your feelings so much by my malicious, unfounded, and hurtful comments about RRA in my previous post, I apologize. But, it doesn't change the fact that while RRA is a good company with good product, they are not a supplier to the military. Hence, they are not considered tier 1 in the industry. Don't hate the playa. Hate the game. |
The "Tier" thing basically is determined by how closely a given company follows the military spec, or TDP. Only Colt, FN, and LMT actually have military contracts and so are the only true "mil-spec" rifles, although a couple of other manufacturers like Sabre Defence also follow it to the letter, and just don't have contracts. RRA uses 4140 steel for their barrels, which is not mil spec. Chrome lining isn't standard, nor is a 1:7 twist. |

I put together a complete LMT lower and stripped upper from Denny's and then put a Saber Defense 16" 1/7 Midlength Gas barrel...I have not shot it yet.... The LMT upper and lower do have a little play but the RR I have with a Bushy 14.5 1/9 barrel is tight as shit and I have never had any issues with it. |
Let's stay on the topic people.. I need help on this. I don't want a sloppy rifle. Even if it's a top of the line black beauty. |
| Im a LMT dealer and for the most part they are a tight fit. But why worry about a tight fit? Its going to loosen up anyhow unless its never used. If there is some play instal an acuwege and call it a day. RRA dreamels in the M4 feed ramps after the fact and thats pretty cheasy. I have sent many a RRA upper back because it didnt pass my inspection before I gave it to a customer and now I dont buy them unless the customer only wants a RRA. |

RRA is not on the same level as LMT |
|
When I first got my Bushmaster is was tight as a 13 year old girl. But after 2 years of messing with it she got all loose on me Want tight? RRA NM or a Les Baer! Just TRY to get that sucker open. My bushy can be be taken down with a pinky push on the detent. |
A 13 year old girl ........J/K |
| The Lmt upper is not to tight and not too loose,it's just right . that 13 year girl statement is way out of line and you should be ashamed of yourself and the 30 year old married women remark is outof line also .women should be treated with more respect than that and you should know better . where we we all be without women? |
