I'm currently in the market for a new upper to put on my bushmaster lower. I see that BCM has LMT uppers in stock? I read a post regarding LMT 's not using taper pins on their front site base? I would like to order one soon, but want to make sure I'm getting a good product. Otherwise I may wait for a BCM 16" midlength. Any recommendations between the two would be appreciated.

My LMT uppers have been excellent. No front sight flopping around either! I think some of that is more relevant to ease of removal/repair than to reliability in the field. I plan to buy my fourth and maybe fifth LMT upper next month. I just wish they made an 18" or 20" barreled upper. |

How is the front site attached? My bushmaster has the taper pin type system. I have seen others use set screws. I do not know how LMT does it. The LMT front sight base are attached with straight pins, not taper pins like Bushmaster, Colt, and other brands. I have a LMT 16" upper on my LMT lower, no problems at all with the straight pins of the LMT upper, I've been using mine for 4 years now, runs like a sewing machine, it could keep up with my two other Colt ARs. The LMT are similar to the BCM and Colt, barrels high quality mil-spec material, each and every one high pressure tested and magnetic particle inspected (not just batch tested), M4 enhanced feedramps, except the BCM have both midlength gas system and carbine gas system variants. I would suggest getting a M16 BCM or Denny's BCG to go with the upper and install a BCM extractor upgrade kit, I would recommend the extractor upgrade kit for all carbine gas systems no matter what brand they are. |
