I am putting together my first AR, and would like some opinions.

I have a srtipped CMMG lower.  Which lower parts kit should I buy?  CMMG, DPMS, or some other?

Not looking for a match trigger or any thing fancy (yet), just want a basic, good quality LPK at a reasonable price.

Any input is appreciatedm. Jim

My DPMS kit went into my CMMG receiver just fine.  I'd say find good deals.  You can get lower kits for about $45-50.

I just assembled a CMMG LPK into a Rock River lower yesterday.  Went in slick as snot.  It's not necessary, but it might be kinda cool to have a CMMG LPK in your CMMG lower...

I usually use Stag/CMT but its a matter of preference.  I just have never bought anything else.

RRA or Stag, in that order

RRA is fine.
CMMG is too, just tends to be more.

I'd get the RRA with NM trigger - only reason to choose the CMMG over that is that the CMMG 2-Stage will handle conversion kits, whereas the RRA NM trigger tends to have issues.

Never had a problem with an RRA kit.

Had many problems with DPMS kits.

Out of curiosity, what problems? I've done two lowers with DPMS LPKs and had no issues. WOndering if I'm in for trouble down the road..

+1 on issue with DPMS kit. I've found their springs to be weak.

I've used four or five DPMS kits with no issues.  I've heard a few reports of missing parts, but I've never had a problem.

I've used RRA, Stag, and DPMS Lower Parts Kits. This is how they stack up.

#1 CMT/Stag: If it wasn't for a slit in the bag the parts came in I would have found all parts present with an extra detent pin for the takedown pins. Found the detents in the Stag kit box after Stag sent me two more detents gratus (free). Excellent quality, no problems.

#2 DPMS: No missing parts, quality seemed a little on the low end, but for the best price of any LPK what do you want. ($< $50.00) Good trigger and worked well.

#3 RRA: Lower Parts Kit was missing magazine release spring. Got a replacement spring from dealer who sold the kit to me. (5 day delay) Disconnector was rough and had to be "worked" to release the trigger correctly. Trigger has the worst pull of all three kits owned. It was the most expensive kit I purchased.

That's my experience.

I know RRA visits this board regularly and I'm not trying to get anything from them. This is an objective report from a former professional gunsmith. (Now working only for myself.) I know that I could complain, but I have the experience to make the proper adjustments to any of these parts to make them perform as I desire.
