Which LPK?

DPMS hammers don't seem to have a notch cut out near the top of the hammer face.  My post ban A1 Bushmaster & others do.  What is the purpose of this cut out?  Is one preferable over the other?  Why?

DPMS LPKs are less expensive, but I do trust Bushmaster parts.

I'm new here, been lurking for a few months.  The search function isn't working for me.
My first "build" will be a Bushmaster Tax Time 20" Govt. upper on a Stag lower with a Bushmaster Tax Time 6 pos. telestock.  I just need to decide on an LPK.

Thanks!

The best LPK I've used is a Stag.

I personally really like CMMG.

As I recall, don't sweat the notch...it was added to catch on the bottom of the bolt carrier if the disconnector malfuctions & keep the thing from doubling or tripling. Notched or not, either will work.

...but then again I could be wrong...

One advantage of the DPMS hammer is that it will work with both .223/5.56 and 9mm uppers.

I've had good sucess with DPMS, everythings always fit well and they have a good trigger  pull. The solid hammer is a plus, sometimes it's necessary to prevent the hammer from catching on the firing pin. I suspect all my builds will use DPMS kits and hopefully Ameetec lowers.

I've used RRA, RB Precision, and CMMG kits.  RRA has the nicest roll pins and was the smoothest build.  They use the notched hammer and spiral roll pins.

RB Precision seems to use a mix.  The Trigger and hammer were identical to the RRA kit.  The pins and detents looked similar to DPMS (more gray than black).  Roll pins were the split type.  One take down pin was out of spec but they quickly replaced it, no charge.

CMMG uses a hammer without the notch.  The quality was decent.  They also use the split roll pins.  Everything went together well except for the trigger guard roll pin which was oversized and a pain to get in.

So far RRA has been my favorite.

Thanks for the replys.  It's off the the EE now.  RRA & Stag seem to be favorites.  I won't sweat the notch.  A NM trigger will have to wait for now.

I asked RBPrecision about their LPK and they indicated it is a mix of RRA and DPMS. I liked the trigger pull on my complete lower so I asked about the LPK for my stripped lower. That way I made sure I received the similar trigger. I actually asked because I was figuring on getting another LPK, but since it was a mix, I didn't want to risk it. Everything went together fine with mine.
