I'm still pretty new to the AR world but the first LPK I bought was a PSA LPK and IMO it was pretty good. Put it in a PSA lower. When I whiched to a Spikes lower, I bought a Spikes LPK to put in that. I ended up taking the Spikes LPK out and replacing it with the PSA LPK.
I now have replaced the FCG from the PSA LPK with an ALG Defense QMS trigger. So....what I would probably do next time is get a LPK without the FCG and get a ALG Defense trigger. |

I've always used Rock River lower parts. I like their 2 stage trigger too. It's a huge step up from a stock trigger and not terribly expensive. Worth while in my opinion.
There was a pretty good sounding report of Stag lower parts so I will price check Stag and compare to RR next time. RR parts have a nice durable finish that doesn't mar. For instance on the ends of the take-down pins when using a bullet or something to push them out. I've used some lower parts a few years ago from Model1Sales and the finish scratched easily on the take-down pins when using a bullet tip. This is minor and damn near insignificant, but significant enough to where I chose to use RR parts from then on. Most lower parts kits should work fine. There are some minor differences though. |

I've built dozens. I had a preference for DPMS parts kits, then switch to Stag because of price. Lately I've started using R-Guns stainless kits. I was genuinely impressed by the quality and smoothness of the pins as well as the mating surfaces of the hammers & triggers. I consider them worth the extra cost as compared to Stag. |

OP everyone has favorites when it comes to LPK's. things to consider are what type of roll pins, small parts fitment, trigger crispness, these are things i look for personally. i've assembled with it seems most every brand out there. the LPK's i am most impressed with are in this order. Daniel Defense, Stag/CMT, J&T, PSA, Rock River w/2 stage trigger. would also try another CMMG after they came into a thread and clarified some info. on their triggers.
i have very little luck with some other brand that other ARFCOMMERs love, but i do have pretty bad luck sometimes. |
| i went with a DPMS because it was recomended to me by seekins when I started my recent two seekins lower builds. (they were out of lpk) Although the safety selector, trigger, trigger/hammer pins and bolt release were not used from the lpk just because i ended up using a mega trigger, badass ambi safety selec., kns anti walk pins, and the new seekins billet ambi bolt release and seekins billet mag release button. |

Surplus Ammo has DPMS LPKs for $50 right now.
I have used DPMS and CMMG. The DPMS kits were nicer, the finish was superior, and the trigger guard roll pin in the CMMG is a cruel joke. As for the FCG, I always hit the sears with an oilstone and some chrome polish to remove the grit and a setscrew in the pistol grip screw hole to limit the trigger travel. DPMS LPK @ SAA Joe |
| Thanks everyone. Much to consider here. A buddy of mine bought a new complete RRA lower from Shooters here in Jax and I must say that the trigger was AWFUL. It had the grittiest, longest creep I have ever felt and that makes me hesitant to buy a RRA LPK. I realize that these stock triggers can be polished and cleaned up at home, but I would think that a new, out of the box trigger would be better than that. I've still got plenty of time to decide... |

Why not go with the PSA kit minus FCG and then add the ALG trigger ? $35 + $45 and you have an LPK with a good mil spec trigger and the hit or miss factor removed. PSA Lower Parts |

I have used a number of parts kits in various builds and I have found stag/cmt to be the best.
CMMG: decent for the price, detents are rough on first few uses but wear in ok, good bolt catch, trigger guard roll pin sucks, trigger break is average DPMS: better quality than I thought it would be, detents are smooth out of the gate, nice finish on bolt catch, roll pins are good, trigger is gritty as hell Palmetto: cheap not in price but quality, bolt catch is cheap looking and finish was horrible, detents were ok, safety was a long finger one and had lots of play with the supplied detent spikes: good, but not worth the price I paid. trigger was similar in pull to the CMMG, detents were good, finish on parts was nice, long finger safety had a little play like the palmetto but not as bad CMT/Stag: best one for its price, detents are smooth as is the trigger, bolt catch and safety are superb in finish and function, roll pins were best of all these kits I am trying an armalite kit less trigger next, and IMO the DD kit doesn't seem worth its inflated price so I don't think id try one at all. |
