Found a used DPMS LR-308 AP4. Looks clean. What should one of these go for used ?

you can get one new for about $1k so i would say under $900 on the used market.

honestly, i wouldn't pay more than $825 for a used one, no matter how clean it was.

probably not going to get it right now. If it's still there in 3 or so weeks I'll probably go for it. just need to get some other thing straight first.

I'm picking up an LR308 AP4 also on Sunday and I'm having trouble finding pics of how people have set theirs up...like which stocks, grips, optic options, etc.  I also gotta figure out how to put a stud on the aluminum handguard.  I just talked with Marshall at PA and found out the red dot with magnifier isn't such a good idea on a 308 rifle because the recoil puts you at risk of injury because the eye relief on the magnifier keeps your nose by the charging handle..which is fine for a 223 but not 308.  I'd like to first get rid of that A2 grip but I"m wondering what the gap is all about and the take down spring is somehow attached to the grip?  I don't want to lose springs changing it out.  Also, I'm reading that I can use regular AR15 grips on this rifle..hope that's true.

Anyway, can't wait to get it.  Trying to find where the good priced ammo is..looks like ATG for now.

i had a local smith install a bipod stud on an AP4 for a customer of mine. total cost was $15 and had the rifle back in two days.

it still bothers me that DPMS can't be bothered to install one of these from the get go but whatever.

Except the new uppers from DPMS have a rail that is lower than every handguard out there... except theirs

I used a 4-40 nc tap on mine ,cut a 1/4"off of the spring . then instaled a 4-40 cup pt allen screw.
works fine.

Dead on.  899 on the tag.  Could probably get them a lot closer to 800.  You guys are good.

Mine is the original style with the standard rail. I agree, DPMS made a mistake when they changed the top rail dimension. My next 7.62x51 will be from either Knight's, LMT, or LaRue.

Here is mine. I ordered a small rail section from Brownells and drilled and tapped the handguard.

You can always find a good deal if you are willing to wait and look for a while.

I wasnt even wanting to buy this guys, but a fellow church memeber offered me his for around 900 that has a great scope and everything on it, with a box of handloads.

My deals not that good, but I don't think I'm getting ripped off either.
