| What can I say, this is the first AR 30 I've owned... at any rate, I took my 5 round mag (only one I have right now) apart and can't remember which way the mag spring goes to correctly reassemble. Could anyone post a pic showing the right way the spring goes in the mag housing? I would really appreciate it. I'll bet I'll never forget which way it goes after this. Thanks! |

To be honest, I attempted to remove the floor plate off of one my my DPMS mags and didn't get anywhere with it. It's so darned tight that I'd have to put it in a vice and figure out some way of lifting the front of the plate so the little detents holding it in clear the front of the magazine body. I already slit the tip of my finger trying last night. I should get WECSOGS points for even trying! LOL
I've disassembled dozens of mags over the years but this one has defied all my attempts. I'll look at the others I have to see if they're all like that but I'm going to assume they are. They are NOT removal friendly by any means. Not like the M14 mags I used to have, that's for sure. Rome |

End loop to the rear of the follower, CP and DPMS.
On the DPMS floor plates, I have only been able to find one way to remove them. Take a small screwdriver and literally pound it in until it is deep enough to raise the tabs above the mag body, then from the other end tap it out with a brass hammer. One caveat though, I did have the floor plate lips on one mag split about a 1/4 inch while doing this. It did not affect function of the mag any but it did make it look a little odd with one floor plate lip being short on one side. I'm like you, I hate removing the floor plates on those DPMS mags. |
