I used a free APP on my cellphone to obtain these.
*M600U used was 500 lumen model In short, I am impressed with and have faith that this APP is actually pretty darn accurate. Rated by Manufacturer 1M LUX: M600U: 16,000 M300U: 12,000 Streamlight Rail Mount 2: 22,000 Streamlight ProTac 1L (180lumen): 3,800 Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA (350 lumen): 6,400 Measured by me at 1M: M600U: 16,766 M300U: 12,910 Streamlight Rail Mount 2: 23,977 Streamlight ProTac 1L (180lumen): 5,366 Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA (350 lumen):7,479 I did not run the lights 30 seconds before measuring. I hit the measurement as soon as I clicked the light on. I do not know how long manufacturers wait before measuring, as these kinds of lights will sag some with run-time, so my measurements were taken as described. Also note that I have seen as much as 30 lumens variance from 1 light to another, in 200 lumen lights from Surefire. I am quite impressed with how close to manufacturer numbers this little APP got me! 50M M600U: 11 LUX M300U: 7 LUX Streamlight RM2: 13 LUX Streamlight ProTac 1L (180lumen): 1 LUX Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA (350 lumen): 3 LUX All-in-all, had some fun, and put these options in perspective. So what does 1 lux equal? -
a measurement of 1 lux is equal to the illumination of a surface one metre away from a single candle. Some further examples of average light levels (measured in lux) are shown below: Outdoor average sunlight ranges from 32,000 to 100,000 lux Moonlight represents an illumination level of approximately 1 lux At sunset and sunrise (with a clear sky), ambient outdoor light is about 400 lux Warehouse aisles are lit to approx 100-200 lux Warehouse loading bays need to be higher at approx 300-400 lux A bright office requires about 400 lux of illumination An industrial factory building (where metal or glasswork takes place) can require illumination as high as 500-750 lux http://www.greenbusinesslight.com/resources/lighting-lux-lumens-watts |

Excellent info here. Someone needs to get an Elzetta in your hands! The Elzetta only pumps out 1800 LUX at 1M. I would probably have trouble getting it to even register at 50m, considering the significantly "punchier" 180 lumen Streamlight only registered as 1 LUX. This is what has kept my from buying an Elzetta. I require a bit of throw. |
