Thoughts on LWRC ACB? Good, bad, is it more durable than standard shot peened high quality bolts? Is it worth it?
Ran across one the other day and wanted to know what the consensus was. Thanks! |

Seems like a supremely good idea in theory. It could be a real step forward in AR design by addressing several bolt-related issues. They went through a couple of design evolutions due to the original relieved bolt lugs occasionally snagging on cartridge case rims but that's been changed in the latest versions from what I was told. Versus an standard milspec type bolt it should have longer life without the heat treatment concerns regarding the cam pin hole, stronger bolt lugs, and better reliability from the balanced extractor design.
Needs some more exposure and feedback from consumer use and testing. The expense makes it hard to swallow as an experimental purchase. Getting some of these out into hard use carbine class rifles, 3 gun shooters, etc for a variety of real world feedback would do much for their commercial viability IMO. It would be very cool for a more mainstream AR maker to pick these up, so that they would be more readily available at a more reasonable price. |

I have run all 3 versions and would not reccomend the first 2. I have been running the current version for a long time now and it works perfectly. There is not much else you can say about a bolt other than it ALWAYS works so what can I say? I like the new steel they used in its construction but the finish on the extractor is kind of crappy IMO. The bolt is a type of stainless alloy so its not got a finish to wear and always looks new. The steel seems to pit a little less around the primer pocket.
What else is ther really to say? Its a bolt. It works. It should never wear out or break for thte life of my rifle. Not much to say till it breaks one day years down the road. |
Its the best bolt made right now. Is it worth $150? Not to most people. I dont regret the expense. Then again most people are OK with 4140 1/9 twist barrels or shooting M193 or using ARMS throw levers or running an EOtech or even sticking with a stock trigger, black follower USGI mags, and a standard carbine buffer. I hoped it would do something magical like improve my groups or never wear or something else... but it does not... its a bolt and my rifle that was relibale is now reliable with a $150 bolt in it. It should last longer. Give me 20K rounds and I will let you know ASAP how the bolt fares. 
The initial Gen 1 bolts had too narrow of an extractor and tore up brass and sometimes tore through, the Gen 2 caught on rims of brass. This one solves those issues. Its the same price bracket as the other high end bolts out there... I dont see why youd get anything but an LWRC ACB if you were going to get a better bolt than standard. It has advantages over the bolt JP sells (dual extractor springs) and advantages over LMT (if your springs wear out it will take a standard extractor spring as a back up) so why not go LWRC? That was my though process. |

That was my though process. Thanks for the feedback - I think I will make the plunge and put one in one of my Noveske N4's to test out. Not much sense in having a barrel good for 15K + that can take significant punishment and a bolt that may or may not make 10K, IMO. Thanks again for everything guys. |

That would be (Paul) Leitner-Wise Defense's version. Correct - but while we're on the subject, what say you guys about the JP advanced bolt??? It looks promising as well, IMO. Anyone have any serious run time on one? |
