Ok, I have had this rifle for about 2 years an love the system but can not get this to shoot anything tighter than about 1.25MOA at 100, 200 and 300 yards.  Everything is handloaded and I have done many latter test playing with seating depth and powder charge.  The best groups I get are with the rifle loaded past mag length which is really a waist of time.  If I load to a COAL of 2.82 the groups are about 1.5 MOA.  The dies I am using are Redding S-Bushing dies and I have the neck tensioned about .002".  I have tried both standard and small base sizing die to see if that would help my groups.  I have tried shooting latter test where the barrel is very clean and fowled.  Fowled with over 10 rounds seams to be where the rifle settles in and the groups get consistent.

Rifle Stats:
20" Reaper
Harris Bipod with pod lock
LaRue 20MOA quick detach base/rings
IOR 2-12 scope
Shooting with rear bag

The standard components I have been using are:
-Federal Gold Metal Match once fired Brass
-Federal GM210M Primers

Variable Components:
-168gr and 175gr SMK
-Varget
-XBR (higher velocity)

I see post that people are getting .5MOA out of these rifles but I have spent a ton of time on this gun and can get it to drop in groups.  Talked to LWRC and they say that the groups I am getting are within thier specs and they do not see a problem with it.  Since I wanted to shoot this in competition it really is not with in my spec.  I consistently shoot .25-.5MOA at these ranges under no wind conditions out of my bolt guns and feel this platform is should be capable to getting .5-.75MOA groups.  If I could get there I would be a happy camper.  I am seriously considering have a custom barrel cut with a shorter chamber so that the jumps to the lands is not so great.

If anyone could give me some advice on loads they are using to get good groups that would be great.  I love this rifle just not happy with the performance.

Thanks

My 16 incher does just over 1/2 moa with Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr.  That was at 200 yards with a borrowed 10x optic.

Gas guns are much less forgiving of shooting form than the bolt guns are, also my 20" repr never liked 168gr bullets past 100 yards, it much perferred 175's and 150 grain loads. I had some surplus that shot amazing for being surplus ammo at 100+ yards.

Different rifling twists will influence how the bullet behaves downrange. The M14 rifle runs a 1/12 twist barrel for 7.62mm M80 Ball (NATO) ammunition, nominal 147 - 150gr bullet.  The LWRC REPR uses a 1/10 twist barrel which may help it handle longer (and heavier) bullets.  But I'd expect the bullets to react differently in different barrels.  "Overstabilization" is probably unlikely with the 1/10 twist at 100 meters but may influence longer ranges.  300 meters is a long walk to check group sizes.

I don't recall the distance at which 7.62mm NATO goes subsonic but there will be some group differences past this point depending on how the different projectiles handle the transition buffeting.

There may be more data on the LWRC Forum than here.

This load should go transonic depending on temperature around 900-1000 yards.  This should easily be an 800 yard rifle.  I use to shoot my M1A Loaded out to 1000 yards on a regular basis and I would get some larger groups and key holing at 1000 yards.  I was about a 1.25MOA rifle.  I got rid of that rifle to buy this one to improve accuracy and be able to push the bullets harder.  This rifle cost double what the M1A shoots and they basically shoot the same.  Frustrating!

Not trying to sound like a dick, but maybe you are a 1.25 MOA shooter with SASS type systems. Again that is not a dig at you, as I am sure you are an excellent marksman. Sometimes when we spend so much time shooting one type of system we get wonky on other types. I can't shoot a bolt gun to save my life, but put me behind an AR, which is what I have primarily shot my whole life, and I can shoot pretty well.

My LWRC rifles were relatively picky about what ammo they liked. If you haven't tried a wider variety of projectiles, then I would do that first. Of the 10 or so loads that I tried through my 5.56 and 762 LWRC rifles, they showed a distinct preference for one of two loads. 77 grain FGMM and PMC 55grain FMJ for the 5.56 and 168 grain FGMM for the 7.62.

Try more and different projectiles - you'll find one that the rifle likes.

I had the same issue with a 18"REPR... sent it back to the factory, it shot 1 .250 MOA again they said "within spec"..I said they should call it a REBR Rapid engagement BATTLE rifle...lol, but REPR is cooler, dude the factory could give a shit if your happy with the groups....
