How certain are you that they didn't come that way? If they were originally un-dented then either you dented them, somebody else dented them who has access to your stuff, or the floorplates are faulty. Are the springs Wolff Xtra power, perhaps? Edit... I'll tell you what... Looking at that pic again, it seems as if some jackass who has never disassembled a mag stuck some sort of tool in the hole and tried to pop them off with leverage. If it wasn't you (which we'll naturally assume it wasn't) I suggest you scan the back side of the plate carefully for any scratching or tool marks, then get the belt out, because one of the kids was snooping! |

They were flat when I bought them. I have never disassembled them, even for cleaning Stock spring. No tool marks on floorplate. The kids would much rather play with my RC helicopter that is off limits than with some magazines. I though maybe i was too rough with them, mayeb throwing them around a bit or something. But then wouldn't it be dented the other way, instead of dented out? I can't figure this for the life of me.

I have many surplus mags with the signature dent... caused by someone inserting a nail or small screwdriver and prying back thereby causing the "raised" dent. CAUTION: You should be able to hammer it out but make sure you hand the end with the hole off your bench or surface so you don't damage the 2 detents that "clip" the floorplate on the mag. |

Justa, I've seen that type of dent many times while teaching uour Dept AR-15 course. It occurs when you unknowingly load too many rounds in the mag, or when you slap the mag in the magwell on a closed bolt w/ 30 rounds. Should be OK to hammer flat. Also, check the lips that the floorplate slides into to make sure that they were not bent out a little. I've seen floorplates blow out during the course also. HTH Brad |
