Anyone have experience with a large frame chambered in .243? If you do, could you post your overall experience.. Good, bad, ugly?

I have my 2nd M5 Lower. 1st became a .308. Would like to try something different. And want to stick with ammo that is readily available. Was leaning towards 22-250 but, I would be dependent on reloading because of the heavier bullets. And even though I have all the equipment, my current situation is keeping me from getting my bench setup.

Thanks in advance!

Last year I bought a 20" Armalite AR10 in .243 and the same in a .308.  In my bolt rifles these two calibers deliver very different experiences.  The .243 bolt gun is an easy shooter...downright pleasurable.  My .308 bolt gun bordered on punishing...not fun to shoot.  In an AR10 both the .243 and .308 were "softies" as far as recoil.  I did not expect that pleasant lack of real recoil out of the .308...darned little difference from the .243.  I was a little shocked.  So...I kept the 20" .308, pulled the 20" .243 barrel, and replaced it with a 16" Armalite barrel in .308.  The .243 and .308 performed excellently, but there just wasn't enough difference to get me excited about the .243.  The 16" and 20" .308's on the other hand offer me more options for fun, hunting, and SHTF potential.  The 20" is a good hunting rifle and longer range choice, while the 16" is a better handling rifle for more fun shooting or a bigger caliber battle-style rifle.  The .243 worked well, but in the heavier, bigger AR10-style platform it just seemed more logical to have a .308 for me.
