I am curious what type of mark up is typical on ammo at the dealer level.  For example, if Cabelas is selling .223 PMC X-Tac for 9.99 normally and has it on sale for 7.99, what do you think their actual price is?

What level of purchase would someone need to make in order to see significant discounts, if even possible?

Thanks!

I'd say about $5-$5.50 a box.  That's based on the price from the large ammo retailers.  As far as a large purchase, IME you can start to get better pricing at the 90K-100K round mark.

You need to get to the point where your making it worth the suppliers time, energy, and money to discount.  That starts at buying a pallet at a time. The freight shipping charges kill any savings.

Freight shipping is much cheaper than UPS or FedEx
