Been trying to find an inexpensive laser range finder.
When they list range performance in yards and say:

Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport 450
Flag  200
Deer 200
Tree 450
Reflective 999

Does that mean that it won't range deer sized object past 200yds?
Or will it range them but not be as accurate?

Primary use will be for deer hunting and would like it to read to 600yds or so.

Just started looking at range finders so excuse the stupid questions.

it means it wont range soft targets past 200 yards, so no it wont bounce a reading off of a deer at 400 yards, it will off of a rock, piece of metal, water etc.

It'll range a deer a little further out than that, but not by much, and it won't be so accurate.

Look into the Nikon Monarch rangefinders.  I got the 1200, it's about as expensive as a Leupold RX-III with more range.  The only thing the Leupold offers that the Nikon doesn't is their Real-range, or whatever they call it, where it considers up or down angles to give you the compensated range when shooting up or down hill.

Looks like I'll have to save up some more.

I was going to say about this same thing.

I got mine at Buds Gun Shop, a board sponsor.  Great pricing, nice folks.  A bit slow to process orders so don't wait til the last minute.
