hey guys, ive been reading a book called "BLACKWATER the rise of the worlds most powerful mercenary army" when i came across a section that discussed the use of some experimental ammo that is made by a co named LE MAS. all it says is the company is based out of arkansas and the rounds are called aplp. they can penetrate armor and steel but will not pass through flesh. any info on this stuff? i googled it and came up with a few defense reviews and other articles but thats about it. is it legal to buy? where can i get some? |

Everyone that's bothered to scientifically test it. All the threads are in the archives now, if you have access to tacticalforums.com that thread might still be there. LeMas rifle ammo is nothing but standard commercial lightweight softpoint or hollowpoint bullets loaded to near (and in some cases actual) proof-load pressures for very high velocity. The rifle bullets they moly-coated so that they would look different/special to the uninformed. Here's a post from an archive thread with some good actual technical information along with some pointed mocking of LeMas' chief liar:
The strange reading post is a satirical mocking of Stan Bulmer's rambling technobabble approach to "salesmanship". Save yourself the trouble and buy safe and good, known performance ammo from reputable companies at market prices. |

so i do have one question on this ammo. the reports from the blackwater employee who used it stated that he shot the subject in the ass and the wound was so massive that it caused instant death. guess it tore a huge hole through his rear and into his abdomen. if he was shooting that le mas ammo and it was loaded with the 40 gr varmit gernade round why did it do so much damage? i know that that round is designed to expand rapidly and cause damage in a small varmit but why did it work so well in a 200lb ish human? i would think that that round being so small wouldnt do much damage? |
