Did a search and couldn't find anything definitive. Got close on one.

Where can I order a barrel with an ambi-extension. I am coming up dry. I got my hands on a Stag Left Hand upper, but now it looks like it would have been easier to order the whole damn upper.

I guess I should mention I am looking for a 16" M4 profile with chrome lining and a threaded muzzle and F marked front sight. (I can do the sight my self, not a big deal.)

Stag and WOA are your only options for the ambi-extension.  There are also several custom makers what will make you a stainless barrel with ambi extension.  Nobody other than Stag makes a chrome lined barrel with ambi-extension.

Left-handed bolts work fine with regular (non-ambi extensions).  Just find the barrel you want and install it.

How about DPMS barrels, they have a rigged left hand upper. So should their barrels have an ambi-extension also?

Last year I emailed Noveske about it and he said their left hand company "Bedrock" would make just about any LH AR15 barrel I wanted, its at Noveske's links page.

No, their LH uppers use a RH carrier and modified bolt for LH ejection.  Stag is the only one that makes the ambi barrel extension that I am aware of.

I'll have to go back and look at my barrel extension closer, It appeared symmetrical to me, what is different on the barrel extension that has to be moved from the right to the left side??

Trust me on this and save yourself the headache…

You do not “need” an ambi barrel extension!

I started out driving myself nuts looking for barrels with ambi extensions for my lefty builds. And then a mfg. friend of mine told me not to worry about it… the left handed bolt works just as well in a normal barrel extension.

He was right and life is so much easier now!

I have used standard barrels with lefthand bolts and have never had a problem but when i build a custom barrel for my wildcat rounds i use a ambi barrel ext because you have to buy an ext anyway.Mike
