Anybody here build left handed ARs? I'm wondering specifically if the Stag LH receivers and BCGs will accept ordinary MilSpec (read non-proprietary) barrels/barrel extensions, barrel nuts, etc... I'd like to build a couple of  LH uppers but don't want to be bound to Stag barrels or rail options. Thanks.

I just did one.  You will need the Stag LH upper, bolt, and carrier. Everything else (barrel, barrel nut, charging handle) is standard. I was thankful to find mine lightly used, as Stag gets a premium for them.

If you use a flat top upper and go to add a carry handle, the front knob will prevent the dust cover from opening all the way.  Stag also sells a left hand carry handle, but in my case, I used a cut carry handle from my parts bin as it was a lot cheaper.

Left hand build = ambi safety and ambi mag catch.

You do need a barrel with an ambi barrel extension to go with a left hand upper.  The locking lugs have bevels on the back and standard barrel extensions are only beveled on one side.

At one time all of Stag's left hand upper and ambi extensions were rifle feedramps, I don't know if they've changed or not.

If you go with a lefty build you want an ambi barrell extension

Stag has a nice 4150 1/7 cl cm barrell they will do with the ambi extension for 200

Cmt also has a left hand eject upper at Rainer for around 150

You need a stag bcg

The dust cover is inverted, so it flaps up not down.

As far as rails and whatnot use whatever you like

I love my lefty build, ton of fun and eats everything

Edit: they are m4 ramps

There seems to be some debate about a ambi barrel extension  vs. a standard extention. The chamfers seem to be the issue that everyone is questioning. I've had a few different rifles built using a standard barrel extention and a left handed bolt with no issues.
