| Howdy, a buddy is looking to build an AR-15, but would prefer one in left hand. I see Stag Arms has one available but really looking to build from scratch. Can anyone offer suggestions of other brands for upper receiver and BCG in lefty (assuming those are the only parts left handed specific...if there are others, please let me know). Thanks. |

i'm a lefty and i havent seen the value in a lefty ejection yet. in fact, i prefer the right side ejection, that way if you have to do a chamber check, its real easy to use your right hand to bring the bolt back and tilt just a little to peek in.
as a lefty, i use ambi selector, charging handle and lower. i leave the upper alone to help aid in parts compatibility. the only reason i'd build a left upper was for my suppressor use. it sucks having your snoot right over the ejection port and getting that blast in your nose every shot. |

I'm a lefty, and my right handed ARs work just fine. The only changes that I make are ambi charging handles and ambi safety. Everything else works just fine.
That said, I need to stay the hell away from uppers that don't have a brass deflector, or it shoots the round right in my face. On my 308 build, the brass seems to still hit me in the shoulder, even with the brass deflector. Eventually I may try an adjustable gas block or changing the buffer to see if I can redirect the brass a bit. |

As a fellow lefty, tell him to stop being such a special snowflake. He will be better off and happier in the long run if he learns and trains on a standard pattern rifle. I run everything standard.
That being said, I fully support anyone spending their own money as they see fit. Try this- Lefty side charger It is expensive but would probably be cool. |
| Core Rifle, Rogue Custom, Rock Rver. Core uses billet uppers and I believe Stag bcg. Rogue used to be left hand rifles (cant remember exact name) but they use Stag parts and Noveske barrels and handguards. RRA I believe only fit RRA LH lowers. Most places that build LH uppers use Stag parts. |
| I am a lefty and after a few years of running ARs , I decided I "Had" to have a left Handed setup. So I bought a stag Upper and Bolt and built out a rifle. I would up shooting it perhaps a dozen times. It felt pointless after a while and I sold it on. A point you might bring to his attention, (Not that any of us buy a gun with the intention to sell it) Left Handed guns are of interest to only 10% percent of shooter. |
