How much farther down the barrel is a mid-length gas port than a carbine?

Thank you.  I'm hoping to get a low-profile gas block under a 10" hand guard with a middy.  Looks like I can just do it with one of those short blocks.

A short 1" block will be slightly exposed under a 10" handguard.

On a BCM middie barrel, an LT 10.0 rail, and a VLTOR LP GB; the handguard ends at the middle of the forward set screw.
