If I build an upper with a 10.5" barrel, what length forend do I need, a carbine length? Assuming it has carbine length gas (which 95% of 10.5" barrels are) and and it uses the milspec delta ring/handguard cap construction, yeah. If you're gonna do a free float with low profile gas block, more length options are available. - OS |

get an 11.5 barrel and this...
http://shop.knightarmco.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=KM30590 but if you really feel the need to stay in the 10.5 world, the DD MK18 rail is the way to go ETA I misread the question. for a 10.5" barrel, 9.5" is the way to go for your rail. Danny Defense makes some great ones, along with geissele, noveske, and I think fortis has a 9.5ish option. I may be wrong though... |
| I used a 10.5" barrel on a build. For that, I believe I used a 9" Seekins BAR handguard. The back of the brake is in to the HG a little. I used a Vortex brake though, so if you want something like the fireball throwers people use, you'll need a longer HG for that 'look.' |
