| So I'm looking to replace the forearm on a 16" barrel. In order to replace it with this, I need a low profile gas block. So slap the gas block on and then put the handguard on, and that's it? |

basically.
removing your gas tube from the old one... securing it in the new gas block... properly aligning the new gas block and securing it. thats about it. Or you could just leave everything on there and chop your FSB into a low profile and then slap it on... easiest, cheapest, strongest method. Just make sure you have enough rail to cover it. |

Does your rifle have a rifle length gas system? The rail you linked isn't a free float, so you'd have to still use the hand guard cap up against the FSB to hold it If you have a carbine length gas system, the rail you linked will not work. You'll have to get the carbine length one for it to work. If you want a rail that extends over your gas block, you'll have to go for a free float rail. The DD omega would work nicely and uses the existing barrel nut/delta group. YHM has some less expensive rails, but it would require you replacing the barrel nut |

Thanks for the PM's guys! The rifle is a CMMG, not yet mine, but will be getting it next week. I'm pretty sure it's a mid length gas system. New to the AR world! if its a middy, you want THIS... http://troyind.com/%20/battlerails/troy-battlerail-mrf-r-12 that will free float you. Youll have to either undo your barrel nut and reassemble or cut off the delta ring assembly though.. if you have one. |
