I have heard good things about the surefire G2...My buddy said he was going to give me a streamlight scorpion....Are these as good to mount on my weapon? Will it hold up to the recoil?

I have a Surefire G2 Nitrolon that has taken 1000s of rounds of recoil on an M4, I have a 9P now that seems to be holding up just as well.

The streamlight Scorpion is an OK light. I carry one every day on duty. I have been meaning to replace it tho, mainly because it runs through batteries like no tommarow. Every 3 weeks Im replacing them and at about $12-$15 for a pair it gets expansive. I have already spent more on batts that I did the damn light.

As far a light function, its a nice little light and would be best served as a little back up light. It is very bright and I love the rubber coating over the main body of the light, the rubber allows me to hold it in my mouth with out having to bite down on a metal body, to use both hands if I need to. Like I said before the light output is great for a $40 light however be prepaired to buy batts every month(if you are actually going to use it).

Now as far as mouthing it on an AR, Id say it should work fine. Its only $40 bucks or so..........so even if it does break, no big deal. I have dropped mine many times and its fine, Mine also rides on my duty belt that gets left in the cold/heat and gets knocked around.

Good luck. I think it will work for your needs.

I have had several 6Ps (aluminum G2, basically) as weaponlights and they work fine.

I wouldn't hesitate to use a G2 on a rifle.
