After going through the "Pics Of Your Light Mounted" thread a million times, and doing search after search, I've pretty much made up my mind to get a Pentagon light with a VLTOR mount. I'm now using a VG, but don't want to use a tape switch. I'd like to have the light mounted on the left side (3 O'clock??) because I'm accustomed to griping the magwell with my left thumb up. Even using the VG, I still keep my left thumb up out of habit, so it makes sense to me to have the light right there. What I need is advice on what length of light would work better for my setup. I'm looking at either the Pentagon X2(5.5") and the X3(7.0"). I have a 16" bbl with a mid-length forearm, with my VG mounted between B16 and B22. Which length light would be better for this set up. | I would suggest going with a 6V unit but would not suggest the Pentagon based solely on the fact you can get more power than the 9V unit with a 6V unit from another manufacturer using a modern LED. You would have to have some odd need for ultra long range use or ultra long run time to pick either a 9V unit or a incandescent bulb based flashlight IMO. Pentagon lights offer neither modern LEDs nor drop in modules to update them. |
