I would like to attach a Surefire 6P to my carbine, but I do not have a rail interface system on the handguards, nor do I want one. I also do not want to attach the light to the barrel or the front sight post (basically not crazy about having anything hanging off the front end of the weapon at all, even though I know this is how the pros do it). Would it be feasible to attach a light to the top of the carry handle using an A2 carry handle mount? I'm talking about one of the mounts that attaches to the top of the carry handle with a thumbscrew and is see-thru so it does not interfere with the iron sights. I wouldn't need a remote pressure switch, I could just twist on/off on the light itself - works for me. This is a home defense weapon and no medium or long range use is contemplated for it, so I don't need an optic on it. A tac light would be desireable for checking out "bump in the night" situations, and I kinda like the idea of having it on top. Appreciate any feedback or suggestions. This is the first tac light of any sort I've ever owned so I have no prior experience with them. |
If it works for you, that is all that matters. I certainly wouldn't want a light on the carry handle of my rifle but to each his own. IMHO, however, you would be much happier if the light was located somewhere where you could activate it without having to take your hand away from its natural position. |
